RV Property by architect Alejandro Restrepo Montoya is a modern day dream house which seemingly defies gravity from a single viewpoint. Structured into a hillside in Medellín, Colombia, this family members residence is a minimalistic splendor.
At nearly 4,500 square feet, this indoor-outdoor dwelling is undoubtedly sprawling yet feels warm, dare we say ‘cozy’, in certain spaces thanks to wealthy supplies and textures all through. A geometric linear structure created of concrete, wood and stone the upper volume nests inside its organic landscape, making a boundariless habitat for the loved ones to relish.
Interiors are elegantly layered in a palpable mix of earthy tones–think bark, slate, ebony and white. Furnishings are modern and sensible, not detracting from the home’s breathtaking surroundings whatsoever. Interior walls mimic exterior ones with the same rough black stone or smooth auburn wood, generating a sophisticated, cohesive energy.
The home’s entrance enthralls. Leading from the lower-level driveway, a set of stairs ascends from a wooden platform, rising above to a mezzanine balcony replete with a transparent glazed railing. This walkway runs alongside the lush greenery of the hilltop, then leads to the home’s entranceway, a decked plank balancing more than a reflective water feature. Enormous, pivoting wood door panels welcome, lastly defining the point amongst inside and out. This is beautiful beyond!
The sunken living regions feature sets of big sliding glass doors which frame the endless mountainous views. An elongated wooden terrace becomes more of an observation deck, supplying casual lounge seating in mod wicker with a freeform rustic wood table at the center. The kitchen and dining area are positioned at 1 end of this central social space whilst the bedrooms anchor it on the other. The garage and laundry service places reside on the ground level.
Despite its strong, huge structures, RV Residence remains a breezy, light-filled and distinctive modern day dream residence made for carefree loved ones living.
